Sara Groves helped me transition into college. Her song “It’s Going To Be Alright” from the album Add to the Beauty, comforted me through the homesickness and strange new experiences of freshman year.
Since she helped me through the beginning, I thought she might be able to assist in the end of my college career. The other night I downloaded her album Conversations (ironically, one of her first albums), and it hasn’t disappointed. I had heard “Painting Pictures of Egypt” before, so I liked at least one song.
The song is about the Israelites complaining about their situation in the desert and wanting to go back to Egypt, where they were slaves. Right now, the future isn’t looking so bright for me. I’m graduating from college but I don’t have a job or internship lined up. Leaving USF is not fun. We have so much fun here with activities that they should be illegal. I’m going to miss it so much. And it’s hard to leave something you can rely on for the great unknown of the real world.
That’s how I’m feeling, and this is the Sara Groves song that will hopefully get me through it.
If you have any other song suggestions for this time of my life, please let me know.
